"Teamwork, Responsibility, Performance, Quality of Life."
Ian P. Huff, DO
"Together, we will Discover, Maintain, and Maximize your Health."
philosophy
Life is a beautiful, and natural, experience. Life is also complex, and a part of that complexity is health and (dis)ease. Our bodies have an innate ability to self regulate and heal. Health is also very complex, but in its simplest form includes our body, our mind, and our spirit. We are influenced by both internal and external factors, most of which are within our control.
Medicine has its place both in (dis)ease and health. I believe your health is a personal journey and a responsibility. YOU are in charge. As a doctor, I am here to help and have dedicated my life to do so. Be willing to engage in your health, This is a team effort and YOU are the team Captain!
BRIEF BIO
Originally a Nashville native, Ian moved to East Tennessee as a part of an inaugural medical school class. There, Ian was recommended and elected as the Student Government President for both of his didactic years. He was named student of the year in his clinical years and was awarded the Dean’s Award upon graduation for the work he did establishing the student government, clubs, and service to his school on various committees.
Ian then trained at University Hospitals in Cleveland, OH for his internship. There, he was chief intern. After his internship, Ian applied for and was accepted to train as a Naval Flight Surgeon in Pensacola, FL. After flight school, he was stationed with the United States Marine Corps in a MV-22 Osprey squadron as their Flight Surgeon.
Dr. Huff deployed twice while with the Marines. During his deployment to Afghanistan, he was tasked to develop from the ground up, the MV-22 as a casualty evacuation (CASEVAC) platform. His high visibility mission was briefed to the highest levels to include the Secretary of Defense, Surgeons General, and Pentagon. The policies, procedures, set up, equipment, briefs, and 300 page handbook he developed is still being used.
During his second deployment to Spain and West Africa, Dr. Huff was tasked to enhance the capabilities he oversaw in Afghanistan, now to include long range transport on the MV-22 of casualties. This required modifying the personnel and equipment on the aircraft and training the appropriate personnel.
Dr. Huff’s military awards include the National Defense Medal, Expert pistol Medal, Global War on Terror Medal, Naval Sea Service Medal, NATO Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, and twice decorated with the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal for his two deployment missions.
After a successful military commitment, Dr. Huff was able to return home to Middle Tennessee where he completed his Emergency Medicine Residency in a high volume, high acuity hospital. Also during this time, as well as when he was an EMT, Dr. Huff was very active in event medicine to include numerous festivals, concerts, professional sporting events, and other regional events.
Since finishing residency, Dr. Huff has moved back to Nashville and enjoys exploring his hometown city and hosting friends and family. He has two dogs who he enjoys taking them on local waterfall hikes and local restaurants. He otherwise enjoys house projects and spontaneous travel. He has also re-affiliated with his Alma Mater as the Academic Medical Director for their Sports Medicine/Athletic Training program.
Dr. Huff remains interested in event medicine, as well as concierge and regenerative/performance medicine. He is excited to be working with Delta Medics and providing the highest level of care in a professional, compassionate, and practical manner with a touch of southern hospitality.
